Just a few kms outside Varkala, one must not miss this amazing spot where you get to see backwaters on one side and the sea on the other. It takes you into a different world altogether and one must put this on their bucket list in places to visit before they die. Beware of Crabs though which you can find... More

A beautiful place with sea on one side and the quiet backwater on the other side of the main road connecting from Varkala (10km).We went in the morning and hired a boat. Row, speed and safari boats are available in the Priyadarshini boat club. (ph- 0470-2662323). Enjoyed the boat ride on the calm water with coconut palms and other trees... More

Just a short yet delightful motorbike ride from Varkala, this place is a more quiet and picturesque beach compared to those at the resort itself.

Breathtakingly beautiful location. Not too many people around. Sea on one side and the backwaters on the other. Paradise. But the spoiler is the litter,, paper flying around in many places (thankfully not on the beach). The saddest thing to note was the plastic/bottles and other waste towards the bank of the lake. Really, really sad and ashamed that people... More

Some may find it boring. But good canal and lake trips. Speedboats too. Breath taking location. Nearby beach becoming popular. Expecting this area to become busier with tourism arriving in Edava.

You can walk to Kappil from Varkala Beach, but it is a pretty hot walk - worthwhile though, with some lovely views along the way. We found a little shop near the green Mosque where we could buy drinks, which was welcome. On other occasions we had a scooter, and it was a very easy journey using that. We loved... More

Kappil lake is about 10 km from the cliff and we booked rickshaws for 6 people for about 300 ₹ one way. There are boat rides for the family at ₹600 for 20 min and ₹800 for 40 min. These are run by the state govt. itself. We booked the 40 min ride and went around the vast salty lake... More

Visited kappil beach and took a boat trip on the lake. The beach is beautiful but the sea very rough. Don't swim there. The boat trip was expensive and disappointing .
