Miles of white sand. Cheap sun beds with good life guards. Some hawkers but not too intrusive. Can be unsafe for swimming at times with strong waves and currents. Interesting to watch the local fishermen or walk into the local fishing village.

Came to this beach with no expectations but was amazed. Although wouldn't recommend anyone to go deep in the water as the waves here are massive nd have extremely strong undercurrents. But visually this is one of thr best beaches in Kerala without a doubt. I stayed at Somatheeram which is on a hillock just 10 mins walk down the... More

We were utterly spoilt in this lovely hotel, with its glass floored lobby through which the hundreds of fish can be seen in the giant pond below. Feed the fish and feel them nibble your fingers! Pristine swimming pool, large and airy rooms, fridge, cable TV, attentive, responsive and friendly but unobtrusive staff, and the meticulously tended garden with all... More

Its a beautiful beach, clean and well kept. The resorts surrounding put in a very good effort to maintain cleanliness. There are beach benches and umbrellas but most are of the Resorts but one particular small shop rents them too. Early morning jog is a pleasure and swims are relaxing. Water is crystal clear but the shore depth is deceptive... More

This really is a tale of two beaches, one a bathing beach for tourists and the other a place for the local fishermen to do their work. The bathing beach is at the North end in front of the hotels and is kept clean and even has the typical Indian life guard with a whistle to tell you when you... More

We were looking for a place where we can see fishermen in action. Found this place on reference from Vivanta by Taj Staff. Auto person brought us here after boating at Poovar island. This place is 8-10 km from Kovalam and on way to Kovalam from Poovar. You can reach here by auto or cab easily. There is a resort... More

Chowara, a fishing hamlet near to Kovalam has many picturesque spots. The Chowara Ayyappa Temple atop a hill overlooks the Chowara beach and offers an amazing view of the beach below. Chowara is also home to the ancient Analothbhava Matha Church. The Azhimalathara Beach here is identified as the only place where the sea recedes from the coast and does... More
