Just 20 mins from Kovalam, you can get a glimpse of Kerala backwaters leading up to the sea. The boat rates are very affordable. The estuary where you see the sea looks untouched and is spotlessly clean. There are two lovely resorts here in case you want a relaxed stay. There is a little restaurant right in the estuary which... More

The Poovar Backwaters cruise and islands are extremely overrated. The backwaters are muddy and the "beach" is barely a 50 meter strip of sand. It's not at all worth the money spent. You'd be better off heading to Alleppey or Kumarakom for a backwaters cruise. They are the real backwaters, the kinds you see in the tourist brochures. If you... More

Poovar's backwater are very different from Alleppey as they are very narrow and has beach on one side which makes it even more beautiful. The narrow backwaters and small boats makes it more beautiful than Alleppey. Beach is also very clean and there is ocean on one side of beach and backwaters on the other side making it very unique... The Poovar Beach is on of the finest and cleanliest beaches in India. Located very close to Trivandrum in Kerala , it is accessible both by road and Backwaters. The neyyar river backwaters are very nice with lots of greenery on both the banks. There is a lovely mangrove forest as well. You will find large variety of birds here.... More

A very very different adventurous, mind blowing, heavenly, beautiful one.. So many adjectives to add to describe the experience. Must visit. There are many vendors near poovar river. We hired one with charges rs 1500. There are two backwater rides half for 1 hour and full for 3-4 hours. You can even plan for a beautiful stay in the floating... More

Its one hour boat ride to reach the place where river Neyyar meets the sea. The best time to visit is after the monsoons because there are restrictions to reach Golden Sands beach. The ride is pleasant through the mangrooves with lots of birds hiding behind the branches. Only a trained eye can spot it. A worthy experience. U can... More

We started our Kerala tour with this backwater ride. You need to reach poovar beach that is around 12-13 km from Kovalam. At poovar beach, you have many boat clubs which will offer you variety of rides. We hired a motor boat for ourselves (3 of us) and we took a 2 hours ride. It was mesmerising, Yes, it was... More
