We need to take a boat ride to reach golden sand beach, the route of the boat is awesome as it takes us through mangroves, small water paths, with greenery all around. Different species of birds can be seen. An excellent snapshot of Gods Own Country. There are floating restaurants which serves just about OK food.

This place was really good... But the amount of garbage littered around this place is unbelievable... soon it will lose its essence unless tourist take more concern about littering and tourism authorities clean up this place..

Nice place in deed but to visit that you need to hire boats where there are some travel agencies who are actually doing monopoly ...one of them has asked us to pay Rs. 3000 for 2 Hrs of Boat Trip for 2 persons.But if you manage to overcome that...its a quite nice place to spend some time.

Golden sun Lit beach is the main attraction here. Around 4 hours away from trivandrum. beafule island and the boat journey.

Take a small drive from Trivandrum and you read Poovar backwaters. Take a brief boat ride and you land on Poovar island. I will always remember the sight of calm lake on one side & rough sea on the another. I have not heard of place like this anywhere else. Due to less tourist traffic it is still a place worth visiting. And maybe Poovar Island resort is the place where you should stay if you are visiting Trivandrum.

Actually I find this beach better than most hyped Kovalam beach. Poovar Island is golden sand beach with vast sea coast line. I found this place isolated with true beauty...no hawkers no harassment, worth for travelers. Ohh yes ...Here ...You can bargain for every purchase...

Beautiful floating cottages! The food overly priced but the location is beautiful. The pool is big but a bit dirty. Sea facing and calm, inspite us ripping us off our last few pounds we did like this place... for its calm.
