During our trip in India we visited this Elephant Junction. This is really a tourist attraction, personal opinion is that elephants should walk around in nature and not be kept as tourist attractions with tourist on their back. The positive side was that the elephants looked good, and were well treated by their guiders.

We went there and booked the 1 hour program, hoping to learn something about the elephants' life, their history, protection efforts and status and ecology. We thought they'll show us something interesting, teach us some basic interactions and explain how they are trained, raised and how the place contributes to their protection. My husband and I visited Kerela in November 2014 and we were in Thekkady for 4D 3N. We decided to visit the local elephant orphanage. For a fee, you can ride on an elephant, bathe it and feed it. Its just a 1 round- small compound and they charge RS 350 per head ( included Kids & Adult). The elephant guide always screaming and shouting at the elephant and it make us feel anxious. Excellent place in the midst of a Jungle in Kerala on the way to Munnar. The elephant rides are very memorable and enjoyable.

We got to see a young male elephant with hair on its forehead. I have not seen such an elephant before !!! During the elephant ride, for a minute I was thinking what am I doing riding on the back of a poor animal :-(
