A must do when in Thekkady. Took an elephant ride through a spice garden. The handlers are very friendly, pointing out to various spices, also everyready to take photos. We had additionally signed up for the elephant bath, where we scrub the elephant. After which he gives us a shower, with his trunk. A fantastic experience.

We had a great time riding, washing and getting soaked by the elephants.. Recommend bringing a towel and spare clothes if playing in the water

Normally I am not keen on animal rides. But Elephant Junction is a place where elephants are treated much better than a lot of places. They are not overworked, seems to be fed well and given enough rest between rides (They have 10 elephants and can afford this). As many people mentioned, the cost for ride is on the higher... More

I have visited a number of Indian Elephant sanctuaries and seen some awful sights as well, but this is exemplary in how it should be done, the elephants are relaxed and well cared for and it is a really nice set up with space and they look to really love and care for the elephants in their charge. We have... More

Our experience at Elephant Junction was fine and we did not witness any problems with the animals - rather they seemed to be treated with care and in good condition. I could agree with the cost being a little high however it is in a lovely area. Overall we had a nice positive experience with our elephant :)

All three of us boarded the elephant and had a nice long strole nothing strenuous for the elephant in a circle through a forest?wood/jungle. The man leading the elephant told us about the surrounding and stopped every now and then for the elephant (Maria) to pose and he took photo's of us. We took more photo's at the end standing... More

Depressing-Please Avoid. June 2014 review says it best! Please read it, I wish I had before going! The animals should be cared for with respect and kindness. I had to leave because it was heartbreaking.

This amazing place is home to elephants and loving Mahouts who take care of their animals for life. A ride in the forest is an absolute must and it may be that such rides are now getting less and less due to animal rights pressure. We could see no evidence of mistreatment, abuse or neglect. These massive creatures are gentle... More
