We reached Thekkady around noon and went for the boat ride at 3:30pm. We were one of the first people to buy the tickets, however due to the screwed up numbering system, we got seats in the middle lower floor of the crowded boat. People coming late got all the good seats. The only animals we saw were some deer... More

The boat ride last about an hour & a half. Got to see elephants, wild boar, deer, bison. Did not get to see the dam as the boat did a U turn back after a 45 mts trip, one way!

Lake is really beautiful, though we couldn't see any animals except a group of elephants but boating in this beautiful lake is itself a different experience

Unfortunately we were there pre-monsoon so the water was low. Ticketing was typical India, you had to purchase each separately at different windows. Boarding of the boas was pretty straight forward, make sure you sit in the seat allocated as per the ticket. Not a lot of wildlife to see, however plenty of birds plus you pass the "Summer Palace"... The registration/ticket purchase etc was fairly typical of India, but we were on a mid-morning cruise so it was fairly quiet. Boarding was a bit haphazard too, not knowing which boat to go to, but it all worked out in the end! Not being an early morning cruise I wasn't expecting much on-shore wildlife to be visible at the water's... More

The scenery is beautiful, the boat trip comfortable, the guides knowledgeable, the price very reasonable and the whole experience well worth doing. But choose the 7am sailing if you want to get the best out of the wildlife experience. You won't see tigers but you might well see elephants and bison, among other things.

The first wild animals were in the queue! Although we were a good 45 minutes early we were told we had to sprint to make our 7:30 boat. This sounded less ridiculous when we saw the "queue" of Indian tourists desperately filling out registration sheets being haphazardly handed out within the rabble. It seemed more like a stock market than... More

We went to the 90min boat ride and it turned out to be one of the best travelling experiences. The boat ride in a lake right through the middle of the jungle!!!The view was amazing, with blue water, mountains infront and green jungle on either side Though we didnt spot any animals apart from a wild boar but it was... Simply enjoy the Boat Ride where you can see deep forests on the either side. The Boat crew told us that there are still around 43 Tigers inside the forests. Do not expect too much out of it. At least not the Tigers but you would be lucky enough to spot some Wild Buffaloes, Deers & Sambhars, a little deep... More
