Be aware that you are charged additionally to take photographs (or was this a personal tour guide rip-off). On the 'bulk' tour you are harnessed in a life-jacket which, with the tour operators, prevents you from moving around. Its a beautiful trip, but do not expect any special photo opportunities. Take a very long range lens and don't expect to... More

The lake with dense forests surrounding it is a delight to the eyes. Government operated boats that cruise slowly through the lake is the best way to enjoy the visit. If you are lucky you can spot wild animals and even elephants. The boat rides are at fixed timings and please check the timings and be there in time to... More

Must visit. Most likely you will spot hundreds of deer of many kinds and few elephants. Very refreshing. Trying booking top deck to get best view of the sanctuary.

By booking the day before you get the seats at the front of the boat. Sailing for about 2 hours, you get to see all sorts of birds, samba deer, wild boar, wild bison and wild elephants (weather depending etc). A bit hectic "queueing" for the boat, with lots of Indians pushing to get on first, but there is no... More

We took the 7.30a.m. morning boat ride in the Periyar lake. It was quite cool and pleasant and the entire ride was enjoyable though we were not lucky enough to see any wilde life.

Boat Trips is Nice. Costs 250 Rs/Person. Boat ride Duartion is around 2 Hrs. Better do a online booking for the Boat Trip. Spotted too many varieties of Birds. We were lucky enough to watch only Elephant and Bison during Boat ride. No Luck for Tigers. Stunning Views around the Lake and Mountains.
