We visited the Kappad beach during our 2-day stop in Calicut. We liked it very much due to its historical meaning and also to the fact that it was uncrowded, clean, very big, and you could freely take a bath or sunbath (despite false expectations about the local people). The village is so serene and tropical, people are very friendly... More

It is a pleasant stretch of rock-studded beach. It is one of the most charming Kerala's beaches. ( ti is better known in history as the gateway to the Malabar Coast.) We can see a little stone monument is left at the Kappad beach to speak of its great historic importance ( govt and locals has kept only this to... More

Its a clean and adorable beach, Water is playfully calm here and its a place where you can enjoy beach in the evening too. The pavement near this beach has many abstract sculptures made from stone and worth a visit.

I visited this beach after a real long time. Last memories were that not many people frequented it.. But now its changed. I saw a sizeable crowd and also has improved facilities now compared to few years back.. Nice place to go with family and friends..

Its a nice beach but gets crowded on weekends... try to go there early mornings as it is clean and less occupied. There is a bear bar on the beach and in the evening there are lot of locals around the beach

I must admit, I visited the place, even before reading up on its historical significance. We went for a post wedding casual photo shoot with a dear friend. From that perspective slightly disappointing. The place has so much potential. It is beautiful if one were to wipe out the negatives from their sight. We spend a couple of hours on... More

On the rocks by the sea shore, there is a small monument commemorates the landing by Vasco da Gama, where you can read the inscription "Vasco da Gama landed here, Kappakadavu, in the year 1498". In history texts, Kappad finds mention as the "Gateway to the Malabar Coast". The beach is very calm with a stretch of rocks projecting into... More

The indian history was lost here after the Portugese invasion . This opened a new shipping route which led to the arrival of britishers. The place is beautiful and the Sunset is just undescrible. Needs proper awareness maintenance and approach road for being a beautiful scenic spot.
