The church where Vasco da agama was buried and later the mortal remains were taken to Portugal. One could see the tombstone inside the Church. The Church looks very elegant externally however the interior could be better kept.

I wanted to attend the church where Vasco da Gama had been buried (he was eventually returned to Portugal). The outside is most attractive, but the inside has suffered through the introduction of modern stuff: fans, microphones etc. The original punkahs from colonial times remain but are not now used. The explorer's tomb is still there too, and we enjoyed... More

Didnt get a chance to go inside, but have heard its made after Vasco Da Gama as he was one of the first explorers to visit Kochi. Looks rustic from outside and reminds you a lot of Goa.

This church was the burial place of Vasco Da Gama. The remains were later returned to his homeland of Portugal but the tomb stone is still in the church. The church itself is a pleasant though weathered building where if alone you could enjoy peaceful meditation.

This place is great to visit and learn a little more about the history. You can see how much of an influence the England had on the country. I found I just sat there for a while to take the architecture all in. Good for getting some good photos.

A very nice and pleasant and silent place to spend time. Old church and beautiful place. Some renovation was going on and i hope it should look more and more beautiful.

This place is on an island and can be reached by a boat from the main city. The original place of burial of Vasco Da Gama. His remains were exhumed and shipped to Lisbon 14 years later. Photography is allowed within the church. A quiet place of historical importance. The church closes by 5 pm. For foodies, we found roadside... More

Reputed to be the oldest European church in India. Small in size and steeped in history, it was originally built by Portuguese but later converted to a Protestant church by the Dutch. It also has the original burial place of Vasco da Gama before his body was exhumed and taken to Lisbon.
