A typical slow town with the old world charm shops, stores, hand carts selling the local cuisine like tapioca chips, fried chillies, coconut water, pickled vegetables and fruits. The beach per say can be skipped as it is littered with some "hooligan looking" (not sure if they are as I did not test) people. You can eat at Spice Garden... More

One thing I would say without doubt - this beach isn't for couples looking for a romantic outing. But you will have the best time of your life out there if you travel in a fairly large group of friends. It is pretty crowded so I wouldn't recommend traveling with kids. There are no places where you can change/ clean... More

Cherai Beach is a beauty! Located about 30 km from Cochin, its a must visit. The clear waters and the long beach stretch is sure to mesmerize for long. Whether you wish to hit for the roaring waves and drench yourself or desire to simply sit back on the rocks to watch the vast sea, Cherai has it all! Collect... More

This is a relatively good beach, clean, but not fully developed to its potential. There are crowds during holidays. There are few eateries and icecream vendors, but not very healthy. Not to the standards of some other well known beaches, but okay. A few kilometers north is the Munambam beach where one can see an estuary. Two to three kilometers... More

This beach is worth visiting as you can enjoy the sea water and also watch the glaring sunset from close. To add to this you have mouth water delicacies of kerala origin

Around 20 kms from Cochin this is the only stretch of beach that one can swim. The other beaches along the cost are not very accessible. Cheria beach can get very crowded on weekends and there is no privacy. You will have to be properly dressed or all eyes will be on you. Limited choices for food. But there are... More

We took the ferry from Fort Kochi to Vypeen, then a bus from there to Cherai, before walking the last 2.5kms to the beach. It is not very developed or over run by tourists, which was nice (we went at start of peak season), but there is a fair amount of litter and debris about. Great little day trip to... More

Cherai Beach can be called Family beach with fun of spending time next to Back waters. However, this is not like Goa beaches but just some stalls around. If someone is looking for Goa Fun on Beach that will be missing. One can spend some quiet and quality time on beach with family, refresh, rejuvenate and have uniqueness of one... More
