Rocky but Beautiful

Cherai Beach is in the far end of Vypeen Island. It is quite rocky but pleasant to walk along the promenade and enjoying the splash of water

Vypin Island was formed after the great floods of 1341. The Island is 25 kilometers long and has an average width of 2 kilometers. Pallipuram Panchayat, in which Cherai is included, is at the northern end of Vypin Island.

Cherai beach is beautiful. It has the sea on one side and backwater lagoons on the other. On most days except public holidays it is very serene. Local eateries offer tasty fresh fish, prawn and crab dishes at reasonable prices. Most home stays and hotels offer good hospitality. It is located close to the Cochin international airport. The serenity of... More

Very nice place to spend an evening. Nice beautiful beach. 17 to 20 kms far from Cochin. On the way you can see the beauty of nature.

its a beach that was a stunner once upon a time..the sea has been reclaiming the sandy beach each year during the monsoons and the beach has been getting narrower with easy passing year...there are stretches before cherai where the crowd is far less and the beach is considerably wider..

The sunset on the beach was just two good. Could enjoy a peaceful stroll on the beach after dinner and had ice-creams from shops nearby. The water was good and beach was clean.

a nice sandy beach outside kochi with good restaurants around for fresh prawns & fish varieties. Takes a bit of time to reach from city due to the metro construction work...but its worth a visit.

Very nice calm beach. But a big NO in monsoon as the sea level will be very high and the whole beach will be covered by water most of the time.

Cherai beach is among the most sought after places for tourists coming to Kerala and a relaxing point for local people during weekends. Having an extended coastline the Cherai beach is different from many other beaches and it is well maintained, clean and hence well for sunbathing apart from swimming due to the shallow water. Being so near from the... More
