It was one of the best beaches we visited in the South of India. At first when we arrived it was crowded, but if you go about 1km away (to the left or to the right), you can just rest in absolute peace. There was only my friend and I, nature and sea. I would definitely recommend it to everyone!

Cherai is about 25 Kms from Kochi city. Has small hotels and homestays next to the beach. The beach is clean and a good place to be. Did'nt see any sporting activity. Tip: eat at the Beach restaurants, they serve some great food but service is slow

Not so easy to get to, we took an autorickshaw, the guy was very nice and took us through some interesting places on the way back, areas where they farm tiger prawns, lovely little lanes in backwaters. The beach itself is beautiful, unspoilt and mostly wild apart from one small area where there are holiday lodgings. The sea is quite... More

OK. A beach in India where you can swim. That's a win. However avoid if you are female because you will be stared at and will feel rather exposed and vulnerable. Also whatever you do don't stay at the Cherai Beach Resort as it is a major scam (see other report). Go to Goa instead.

If you want to really enjoy sun and sand in Cochin, this is the place to be... Please don't expect too much of facilities here. Just sun and clean sand... There are small home stays and resorts around, most of which will have a bit of private beach.... You can also hire rooms on hourly basis and enjoy the sun... More

We visited Cherai on a sunny Sunday afternoon. We were hesitant about how it would be outdoors. But, it was very likable experience. Atmosphere out there was very pleasant. (May be 32 degree Celsius) We had three kids as well and all of us enjoyed. Positives: Ample parking facility, Nice relatively uncrowded beach, cleanliness, fresh water bathing facility after enjoying... More

The water is clean compared to most Indian beaches. The shores are filled with a variety of shells and pebbles. It's best to go after 4pm to enjoy the cool breeze. There is a nice restaurant nearby that serves excellent Kappa & Fish curry and Seasonal Fish fry. It's a nice beach to go for a long walk and dig... More

This beach is 30 KM away from cochin, a nice weeken getaway. It is good on weekdays with comparitively less crowd. Weekends are very much crowded.
