Massive lake stretching from Kumarakom to Alleppey. Best to take long day cruise in Shikara costing about Rs 500-600 per hour. The view of sunset from the middle of lake is unforgettable. We never realized how the 3 hours passed in cruising all over the lake.

It is a vast expanse but with little views. The speed boat ride was not very good as the water is not calm. There are too many choppy tides. Also, the KTDC person offered confusing information about the last time for the boat.

I took the boat from the government boat jetty and crossed to Mahamma Island and came back , the cost was 40 Rs. only, I enjoyed watching the locals at their houses, some were fishing and also there were many houtse boats on the lake. That is a very cheap way to enjoy boating on Vembanad Lake, but for sure... More
