The Surathkal Beach is just in front of the 1st gate of NITK when you come from Mangalore side. One can see literally the golden beach. If you add the same tourist it is none the less than that of rocky beaches of Goa. Back side full of greeneries. A peaceful temple and lighthouse are another attraction of the beach.... More

A last minute decision to attend a convention left me struggling to find a convenient yet affordable room. I'm glad I settled on The Mosser. The location is wonderful and, while not luxury accommodations, left me wanting for nothing. All of the staff were very professional and friendly. It is very clean despite a slight "old building" smell which is... More

Surathkal beach is an excellent, clean beach. I visited the beach in early morning and evening for sunset. I visited in Dec 2014, for sunset, which gave me some unbelievable colors during that time. I have never seen a beautiful sunset like that ! Just amazing ... The beach sand is a peculiar white sand powdery one, which is another... More

I have never been a student at NIT and didn't visit the part of beach that comes under NIT, so might provide a different context as compared to other reviewers here. The beach is very clean and almost empty, but still looked safe for bathing. The narrow road running along this beach has a few beautiful beach houses. You might... More

Can see the natural activities near by the beach. A well planned trip with friends can be a most memorable event in this location.

I enjoyed this beach for four years as a student of NITK. You can see the sun set standing on the rock, swimming in the beach. Its 2 Km from surathkal. There is a temple to visit and a light house next to it. You can go to NITK campus and go around. Its not a commercial beach. You might... More

Proximity to Mangalore but not a great place to go unless accompanied by a local. The beach is reasonable clean but settlements in the vicinity can be a put-off.

Surathkal is about 15 kms from Mangalore in the western coast highway earlier NH 17 and now NH 66. , now part of Mangalore city Corporation. The name Surathkal is derived from "shiratakal" meaning "headstone" in Tulu. The famous Sadashiva temple is built near Surathkal beach, next to the light house. Surathkal beach is clean, quite and beautiful. we use... More
