Owner description: One of Bangalore’s busiest markets, the KR market, hides this surprise: an elegant palace built by Tipu Sultan, with teak pillars and frescoes. Though incomparable to the more famous Tipu Sultan’s palace at Mysore, this is one of the relatively unknown monuments of Bangalore. Visit this palace along with the ruins of the fort nearby. Also nearby are a temple and a mosque.

Found the fort and palace to be very interesting and beautiful. It's especially better if you have a guide or know more of the history yourself. Wish they had provided an audio tour or informational pamphlet. Can probably see both fort and palace on your own in an hour. Only 100 R. for foreigners to see the palace, which seems... More

The main feature of his well-preserved palace is its solid carved pillars made from teak. The ornate decorations and museum add to the interest of this visit.

If you have a n interest in History, Architecture & extravagant decoration, this is a must. Apparently the Teak pillars were cured in the river for 20 years! Amazing gold paintings on the walls & ceilings. Alcoves made with silver paint to increase reflectivity. The Guy was a genius! The Guide cost Rs 50 for 30 min- well worth it.... More

Nice to see a fort made-up of wood entirely. This fort is a historical place, it has few antic items kept in ground floor which depict Tipu sultan era.

Only the empty building stands tall with strong wooden pillars. Except a sword and a tiger toy everything has been looted by British. Our own people as written their names on all old paintings and walls. People show more interest to take stills rather than reading the history of Tippu. The small garden is maintained. Entry fee Rs.5 for Indians.... More

1. Not allowed to sit anywhere inside the fort. 2. No Parking anywhere near 1 kilometre. 3. All stairs to upper section are blocked as per the security guard. In all the worst fort ever visited.

That's all you need to spend at this Palace. It's very small almost underwhelming. You can club this with the temple next door. At least the carvings are beautiful. You can skip it!

This was the residence of the great Tipu Sultan during his summer rule. The fort is majestic and upon closely touching it, you can see that the pillars are partially made of wood. You can climb the stairs and stand at the very place made specially for the King to watch the daily activities / proceedings at his Durbar. A... More
