Chitrakala Parishat is a renowned school of art in Bangalore, with an enviable alumni list. Located in a tree-lined campus, CKP — as it is popularly known — has a museum, a store and a gallery worth visiting. The gallery has rotating exhibits while the museum has permanent displays of paintings and crafts. CKP comes alive during its much-awaited fests: the annual Handicraft Mela and the Chitra Santhe (art market), both of which provide outlets for artists and craftsmen.

KCP is a wonderful places for an art lover. You can slowly drift from one painting to another relishing. Usually some event or other is held there and the annual "Citra Santhe " - The Art Market is a good place to buy the artefacts.

I love visiting the art museum here. My favourites are the sketches and paintings of Rabindranath and Abanindranath Tagore, the vast collections of rare leather puppets, and the work of present day artists like Anjolie Ela Menon, Amrita Sher Gill and Laxma Goud, among others. CKP often host interesting exhibitions of Indian art and craft or have film screenings at... More
