Chitrakala Parishat is a renowned school of art in Bangalore, with an enviable alumni list. Located in a tree-lined campus, CKP — as it is popularly known — has a museum, a store and a gallery worth visiting. The gallery has rotating exhibits while the museum has permanent displays of paintings and crafts. CKP comes alive during its much-awaited fests: the annual Handicraft Mela and the Chitra Santhe (art market), both of which provide outlets for artists and craftsmen.

This place is good for pre festival shopping. It is great for women to spend few hours exploring the festivals or the art exhibitions. You can pick indian crafts and textiles at ease.It lacks a nice eating joint or cafe so you cant really sit and relax.

This art school/ gallery is amazing. Rooms of different new and old art work, sculpture and folk art. I wish they had been able to date more of it, but definitely worth coming to see if you are interested in this kind of art. 50 Rupees for the museum and they have an outdoor cafe and art sale room. You... More

With regular exhibitions Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat is perfect for a half day/evening outing. Particularly the Santhe that is held every year is a must for those who appreciate art and art collectors.

Centrally located, CKP as it popularly known, it is a nice place to visit as they have handicraft exhibitions going on atleast once a month. Worth a visit to pick up some items which are hand made. Also you get a chance to interact with some of the artisans who continue the traditional craft forms.

Recently I visited Chitrakala Parishat where the Hastakala exhibition was held. And it was a treat to the eyes to see the handicrafts made by the artisans of India. This is when you realise how rich in art India is.you can buy from clothes to intricate madhubani paintings to decorative items for your home. The whole place is clean and well maintained.

I saw many times the name of Chitrakala Parishat in newspapers. It is the venue for many art exhibitions, toy stalls and sari sale counters. I found a chance to see this well-known place. It is located near Raj Bhavan Road in the locality of Kumara Krupa Road, very near to Cubbon Park. As soon as we entered the place... More
