Old world charm

Tends to be rather crowded in the evenings and on sundays but one can still manage a quiet spot to get a quick dose of tranquility.

A church in the heart of the old city close to Russel Market. Devotees from all walks of life visit the church to ask for favours. Became famous during the 1800's black plague which wiped out the city's old areas. Legend has it that those who went to the church for protection were saved. Very crowded.

The very ancient Basilica is in the heart of a bustling marketplace, and recently they have built a chapel on the left which has a ot of people, but the remarkable thing about this place is that it is so quiet and we can meditate in the midst of this crowd, because everyone maintains a reverent and prayerful silence. Very old and very nice Basilica of Mother Mary. Located at just a stone throwing distance from Shivajinagar Bus Stand, attracts devotees from all religions. The yearly feast is very attractive and pulls a lot of devotees from all over Bangalore and from all walks of society.

It is a beautiful church, lovley architecture. A must visit fror tourists. If South Bangalore has a lot of Hindu temples then the area North of MG Road has some amazing churches. This is definitely one of the most amazing one. Must visit. Surely. If in Bangalore try not to miss this beautiful Basilica. I went on a Saturday morning just in time for the English mass. Just to sit in the Church is a wonderful and calm experience. There is a gift shop with moderately priced articles. The toilets take some finding which are at the back of the Church. All in all... More
