Basavangudi is one of the few areas in Bangalore that have retained its old-world charm. A residential area with quaint homes, leafy roads, markets and temples, a walk here can take you back in time. Always buzzing with activity, Basavanagudi buzzes even more feverishly before festivals. There are numerous restaurants here, some institutions in themselves. This is a good place to feast on idlis (savory cake), dosas (savory pancakes) and the famous filter kaapi (coffee).

Reminds you of old Bangalore. But nothing much do otherwise. But a nice feeling to get way from the concrete malls.

I have never seen such a huge Nandi 15ft (height) x 20ft (length) built out from a single granite monolith any where in India. This is a must for any Visitor in Bangalore. the location is serene and near by many temples including the famous Doda Ganesh which is also built from a huge monolith..

I was visiting South India after several years and wanted to experience the real essence of this heavenly place. My dear family took me to this bazaar and I loved the overcrowded, colorful, fresh bazaar with a wide variety of local items and eatables. I bought a few silk saris from the cloth shops for my friends.
