Basavangudi is one of the few areas in Bangalore that have retained its old-world charm. A residential area with quaint homes, leafy roads, markets and temples, a walk here can take you back in time. Always buzzing with activity, Basavanagudi buzzes even more feverishly before festivals. There are numerous restaurants here, some institutions in themselves. This is a good place to feast on idlis (savory cake), dosas (savory pancakes) and the famous filter kaapi (coffee).

It is one of the old localities in Bengaluru. It still maintains the history. It is the place for foodies, shoppers, and as well as for the temple visits. There are plenty of shops for almost everything from expensive range to budget range. Basavanagudi is also the place where you will get plenty of vegeterian restaurants, and food joints. Car... A nice place where you can find many good restaurants which are small ones but still are very famous for their authentic taste. Also, good for shopping lovers & there are many good temples surrounding this place.

I am not sure if the casual tourist will find this place interesting. But an avid photographer may certainly find the hustle, bustle, cows and the colorful garlands interesting subjects to shoot. See attached photo

Found very congested commercial place. The nearby Bull temple makes it a very crowded place. For buying traditional items it is a good place.

Gandhi Bazaar is a good place to shop, eat and also enjoy the tradition of old Bangalore as we cannot find this anywhere else in Bangalore. There are some famous eating joints in this area and people especially come here to taste the dosa's of Vidyarthi Bhavan a small but famous restaurant. The flower markets, grocery shops and the vegetable shops... More

The temple or location does not have any special architectural beauty. The bull statue is really huge and awe inspiring. But i dont think you need to spend 3-4 hours driving up and down to this place. Also, there is no shopping around the temple.

UD Roti Ghar in Gandhi Bazaar has a nice takeaway counter called Cake Ghar. We too didn’t know about it, we just chanced upon it when we heading to the bazaar. There’s something nice about takeaway counters, the service is quick & we get to see food being dished up live. So coming to this takeaway, it has an amazing... More
