Basavangudi is one of the few areas in Bangalore that have retained its old-world charm. A residential area with quaint homes, leafy roads, markets and temples, a walk here can take you back in time. Always buzzing with activity, Basavanagudi buzzes even more feverishly before festivals. There are numerous restaurants here, some institutions in themselves. This is a good place to feast on idlis (savory cake), dosas (savory pancakes) and the famous filter kaapi (coffee).

Reachable very easily as it is in the heart of the city and on one of the most popular main road in Bangalore. Though the main road opposite to temple is very busy and crowded always, just getting into Bugle rock garden behind the temple will take you to a very calm place. The place is very well maintained. Only... More

Very homely area. So many restaurants of all kinds including the famour Vidyarthi Bhawan (which is highly over-rated in my view) You can easily spend hours in this area of shopping, buying vegetables, fruits, flowers, visiting temples if you are a temple person etc.

Basavanagudi literally means Bull's Temple. One of the main attractions here is the Bull temple with the large Bull ( Nandi) statue. The Dodda Ganapathi ( Big Ganapathi) temple is situated very close to Bull temple and has a big Ganesha Idol carved on rock. The Bugle rock , Bugle rock park are also located in the same vicinity. Not... More

The old bangalore charm of basavanagudi is available all through this majestic locality. The main attractions of basavanagudi include bugle rock, bull temple, chamarajpet . The major eateries include Roti ghar and brahmin's coffee bar. The dodda ganapathi temple is yet another must-see attraction.Basavanagudi is also known for its gardens and parks and the now-famous musical fountain in the evenings... More

Visit Gandhi Bazaar to get the bazaar feel that is getting lost with the mushrooming of malls in Bangalore. There are all kinds of shops / establishments right from sweet meat shop to vegetable/fruit vendors to electronic goods and cloth merchants. Relive your younger days if you grew up in small town or even big metros.

Old Bangalore charm can be seen around, lot of temples, veg restaurants street shops selling flowers, vegetables etc, especially during Hindu festivals this place is bustling with people. Try vidhyarthy bhavan near by, for dosas and idly etc
