Basavangudi is one of the few areas in Bangalore that have retained its old-world charm. A residential area with quaint homes, leafy roads, markets and temples, a walk here can take you back in time. Always buzzing with activity, Basavanagudi buzzes even more feverishly before festivals. There are numerous restaurants here, some institutions in themselves. This is a good place to feast on idlis (savory cake), dosas (savory pancakes) and the famous filter kaapi (coffee).

Great temple devoted to Nandi the vehicle of Lord Shiva is the centre of attraction. Also, the real culture of old Bangalore is the most attractive part of the visit to Basavanagudi - literally meaning the temple of the Bull.

What a place to visit!!! The best place in the entire Bangalore City to taste the South Indian delicacies. Every few steps there is one eatery. Just go and taste the excellent and hygenic Idlis, Dosas and the chats. Your hunder for more remains even then.

This area distinctly bears the old world charm of the tall tree , the old bungalows with huge courtyards still reminding us of the bygone era lifestyle . The nearby Famed Bull Temple , the Holy Ashram of the Ramakrishna Mission are within walking distance . The Vidhyarthi Bhawan is a place to serve the well known Dosa . Not... More

One of the oldest localities of Bangalore along with Malleshwaram, this place retains the old culture of Bangalore. A visit to this place during festive time is so enjoyable. The real culture of Bangalore can be seen here. The annual Kadale Parshe at the famous Bull Temple makes this place lively for 3 days. The Dodda Ganesh Temple is beautiful... More
