Its one of the oldest banyan tree in india, the oldest being in andhra. There is no point travelling that far just for this until and unless you were on a mission to check this out. I cycled my way to this place so it wasnt much of a deal for me. You can just spend an hour sitting under... More

The tree is now bounded and maintained by horticultural society. The environment is peaceful and quite with imposing tree if you can tolerate aggressive monkeys and noisy stray dogs. The monkeys will snatch anything that looks like food right out your hands.

It’s really a sight to see, with the huge banyan tree, spread across, say around 70x70 area, shrouding like an umbrella, underneath a small temple. The surrounding is quiet & serene, away from the hustle & bustle of the city.

on the way back from Innovative film city took a digress and came to see this place. It is a good place to see the OLD banyan tree. But sadly there is no much place for the tree to grow . Max time to spend is about 20 - 30 minutes. And also beaware of Monkeys.

The 400 yr old Big Banyan tree is a worth going place if u live in Bangalore for a half day trip with Manchanabele dam. Estimated time of visit - 2 hrs. This is the 4th biggest banyan tree after Andhra Pradesh, Kolkata and Chennai. Although the main trunk is dead now as was succumbed to natural illness, it lives... More

have been there many times. This place along with and Savandurga trekking are very good option if you live in Bangalore and want to spend half day outside. The dam is around 10 km from Banyan tree and Savandurga hills are some 10-12 km further from dam (these are rough estimations).

This place is around 10 km from mysore road, roads are very good. No good restaurant around, however normal grocery shops are there so that cold drinks, chips and water bottles... More

Good for half a days trip in weekend. Situated off mysore road (10 km). Such a big tree expending in almost 2 acres of area I guess. Hard to find the host or the main tree. Hard to believe its a single one. Beware of Monkeys , so better not to carry fruits/foods.
