Don't get me wrong - the guide (Vijay) is ludicrously knowledgable. That said, in the hour-and-a-half that we managed to survive before giving up and taking off by ourselves, we had progressed, oh, perhaps, 200 feet. And no, I'm not kidding. Mind you, if it was advertised as something like "Lecture with a little movement", it would be pretty amazing... More

We wanted to give a taste of old Bangalore, off the beaten path, to our Canadian house guests. Browsing the net, we discovered "Unhurried.in", a website dedicated to such experiences. We selected the Malleswaram walk on a Saturday morning, with their team leader Poornima. A group of 14 from various parts of the world started this walk at the ancient... More

What a great privilege to have Mr Vijay as a guide in Bangalore's Lal Bagh gardens. He is extremely knowledgeable about not only the gardens and their history, but Bangalore history in general. There was hardly a question, on any topic, he couldn't answer. He'll point out things that aren't signposted and that you wouldn't otherwise notice. And the whole... More

When I was looking for the Bangalore Walks only this one was happening. Didn't know what expects me, I met the group and Mr. Vijay at the entrance of the Bangalore Botanical Garden. I didn't know I would get so many information! Mr. Vijay is extremely knowledgeable and you can sense his excitement for botanic, mythology, culture, history. He touched... More

Welcome to Bangalore-The Garden City…today I am going to guide you for a sightseeing of city tour by spending a BMTC Bus pass. If you are from different place...you may find it to difficult to read bus route written on BMTC bus board…so remember…where ever you are …you will always get bus towards Majestic (Kempegowda Bus stand, in short KBS)... Vijay has very good knowledge of the Lal Bagh botanical gardens. But the pace of the walk is very slow. And it seems he has a problem with mobility which leads to him pointing out trees from afar as apposed to a more close inspection. Great weather and clean air are highlights.

Took Bangalore city tour with party of 10, spend aprox 3 hours touring the city. Arun, the tour guide, is highly educated, well spoken, and speaks with great pride and knowledge about India's history, it's colonial past, India's independence and recent history and how these events shaped the city, it's buildings, layout, parks, population and formation of high-tech aviation, aerospace... It looks like the only tour running at the moment is the Green Heritage walk - I went on this yesterday and I'd back up everything people have said about Mr Vijay's walk, very interesting and brilliantly narrated :) Although I would say that it's not something for young kids (or adults) with a short attention span.

My husband and I (from Australia) agree that this is possibly the best guided walk we have ever been in, in our life! Mr Vijay Thiruvady wove a narrative made from threads of history, botany, empires, religion, philosophy and geography that truly made the three hours of the walk fly by in a moment. This wasn't just a dry, academic... More
