We were very excited about the magnetic hill, however there was nothing magnetic about it when we tried! We also heard that it does not work all the time..we did try it a couple of times.. But no success. It's on your way from Kargil..so worth a shot! You might get lucky!

There is nothing so phenomenal about the phenomenon but its loads of fun to stop traffic and occupy the middle of the fantastic road and take tons of pictures surrounded by the beige mountains of Ladakh!

Well argubaly one of the most popular tourist spots in leh - a 5-10 min stop is guaranteed here no matter who you are travelling through. Opinions are divided and it's difficult to say whether it's really magnetic effect or optical illusion as some claim. Fun while it lasts though!!

Driver put car on neutral. We did it twice (both going towards Srinagar and away from Srinagar). Both times the car was pulled in the same direction even on neutral. Defies logic, and physics.

you have to see it to believe it. The vehicles should be kept in neutral gear and see how it climbs up the gradient.

It is like a magic show.....to see the car crawl away from you in neutral gear and uphill! I shudder to think what the magnetic force may have done to my blood flow....chilling thought

While there is a box painted on the road where one is supposed to park the car, switch off the engine and get into neutral gear to experience this phenomenon, the more dramatic thing to do is to drive a little way down the hill so that there is a lot of distance up Magnetic Hill that one feels the... Well, it's definitely alluring, but alluding too. It was fun to stop in the rectangle drawn on the road and wait for car's movement against the gravity (as it appears) in the neutral gear :)

The magnetic hill is not actually a hill, but just a few ft of patch on road towards leh, where you experience your vehicle moving up the road automatically, with the engine off. We tried it. but nothing happened. No magnetic power nothing is happening. Advice not to stop and not to waste your travel time. If driver need small... More
