Nagin Lake to stay is better than Dal Lake, not crowded and there are much less souvenir boats that approach the houseboats for selling their items which can get very annoying when you want to rest and enjoy your time.

I hired a houseboat on nigeen lake for my stay and i was blown away by the views and the surrondings. It was an life time experience to daily wake up on a such serene place. Nigeen lake is way better maintained than Dal due to the size difference may be. Shikara ride from Nigeen to Dal was the worst... More

we had a shikara ride in morning and loved it :) If you want to spend a quality time away from the crowd do stay at nagin lake rather than Dal lake.

Nice and quiet and relaxing on a shikara boat ride, but quite far from other sights and need to take tuk tuk to reach as limited motor boats on both dal and nagin lakes.

Nagin lake is much cleaner than Dal lake though both are equally beautiful. Nagin lake is not much crowded therefore peaceful place to visit spl in afternoon time. U must take Shikara ride if u land up there. It was my first time and I njoyed it throughout my time there.

Nagin is lesser known and consequently much less crowed to Dal Lake. We stayed on Nagin and it was tranquil, serene and clean. Hands down recommend it over Dal - don't let anyone convince you otherwise. The houseboats on Dal are packed together cheep by jowl, up to 5 deep in some locations, which means the view from your window... More

I was staying houseboat at Nagin lake, its just beautiful different shades of lake at different timings. I found its far better than dal lake (visited in June2015), less crowded and clean.

Nagin lake carry a charm of its own .. The water is dark , as you spend more time near the lake you tend to get awed by the beauty . Overlooking the lake from the bridge, Lotus in the dark waters tend to attract you . Nagin lake is much more peaceful and is one of the better location... More

Another lake in Srinagar. Lot of houseboats are there. If you need to settle in a quite and aloof place then select it as your staying place.

This is a quieter version of the Dal lake. Relatively serene. Minus the hustle bustle of the crowded Dal lake and the surrounding market. The only glitch was the hotel on the other side of our house boat that played live music (with a lady crooning in a pathetic voice) and people shouting and screaming while dancing that did spoil...
