Very artistic prayer rooms. Feeling of space all around you...However, the approach to the Mosque is quite crowded and narrow.

The architecture of the mosque is amazing. Pillars of mosque are built of deodar trunk. Women are allowed inside (being a religious place they have to be suitably covered). There is a ticket for entry which is available at the main gate itself. Roofs are very well carved. Worth the visit. Photographs can be taken.

Many devout followers visit the shrines, mosques and temples of Srinagar every year. Jama Masjid is the main mosque built in the 14th century by Sikander Butshikan. Architecturally unique, this monument has spires instead of domes and minarets. Interestingly, each of the 350 pillars of Jama Masjid is made from a single deodar trunk.

although a place the locals and some of the tour guides would discourage one to go(citing reasons its in the downtown), the masjid is one the most beautiful structures in the valley, with its architecture, essence of culture and the exemplary use of the building material and great building technology!!

It's an very old (1394 AD) but well maintained architecture. The 378 pillars are made up out of trunks of deodar trees which is very unique. These pillars support a very well crafted wooden ceiling. There is a calm and pious atmosphere in the masjid.

The entry gate and the inner court yard were very different and spectacular. The wooden pillars are a marvel
