We drove over 50 kms. from Shimla to Tattapani to indulge in a bit of river rafting. The charges are kind of steep - Rs. 1500 per head for a 12 kms. river trip. There are around 10 persons on that inflatable raft, and it started off around 1 p.m. in the afternoon. By then, the river had swollen considerably... More

about 45 km from Mashobra, 90 min drive one way. Road descends all the way down to Sutlej river. Spring water is really hot. There is water rafting available, and we tried the 12km option, 4 adults and 4 kids costed ~6K. Guide was very good, and negotiated the rapids beautifully. Water is cold, you will get wet, so plan... Sutlej River flows here and there is lot of sulphur present. The stones, pebbles and the sand around the river are hot while the river water is cold. The current of the river was high when i went. If you are interested you can collect some unique stones and pebbles around the river of various shapes sizes and colour.

We went in August and there was not much activity in the area. Climate was hot in August. There are list of activities which can be done here from the White water rafting, rock climbing, horse climbing and there are small shops which serves this activity. Best to have a person who has experience driving through those roads since they... More

We did not have much time and the month (July-Sep) is not right for any adventure activity (river rafting) in the Sutlej river. We sat on the river bank for more than an hour and collected round colorful pebbles (I decided to use one of the beautiful round pebble as paperweight). Tattapani actually means "hot-water" and is famous for hot... More
