I must admit I went to this museum only because I was bull dozed into it..and not a moments regret..it's a free tour but you need to pre-book it..this can be done by phone or e-mail..Ms K. Engineer was a knowledgable and inspiring guide..some truly wonderful creations and well worth your time.

Visited this museum today and whilst I understand the need to ensure that the exhibits are cared for I felt like a naughty schoolgirl. Continuously told not to touch tho, having been to museums around the world I was not even close to doing so, marched around with everyone so unsmiling and unwelcoming it was interesting but not, if I... Amazing!!! But do book ahead. They only let 20 people in per day. The museum was very kind to let me in with a days notice. Incredible if you love textiles.

This place is largely unknown. I got to know about this place after three years of stay in Ahmedabad and that too when a family member from abroad came & enquired. You need to book in advance especially if you wish to visit on Saturday / Sunday. Children below 10 years are not allowed. The trip lasts for approx 100... More

This museum turned out to be so interesting. You learn alot not only about textiles, but also about the various histories of the parts of India. The people who work there and guide people are also very interested in fabrics and, just like a good teacher does, their enthusiasm makes it interesting for the visitors too. Definitely book at least... More

If you love old textiles then this is the place to go - there are hundreds on display. We went about four years ago when you could just turn up and visit and wander around. It is a bit dark in there, to preserve the fabrics, but quite fascinating.

Tried to visit the museum for textile collection but was unable to communicate with two guards at the gate, not even allowed to see the books for sale. Strange to have guards but no reception ,Need to have your own guide who speaks the local language. Cannot carry in any bags.Children not allowed.Booking by e-mail should be weeks /months in advance.... More

This is a private collection owned by a foundation. The building and wooden hand carvings are as equally as impressive as the textiles collection. It's free but you must book. They limit numbers as they want to keep heat and humidity in control as fabrics are prone to these. I appreciate that you, like me, would want to touch the... More
