A must visit in Ahmedabad. Wonderful display of carefully selected textiles, and art creations using textiles; many exhibit excellent skills which are slowly disappearing. This private museum restricts the number of visitors per group and limited groups in a day. Important to make prior arrangements for the visit.

The Textile Museum is a private collection of the Sarabhài family. At one time this family owned several mills There is no fee but an advance booking is necessary. It worth visiting as one can see the various art related to textiles

Though somewhat hot, with no cross ventilation, ( so dress cool) this is a national treasure. The very passionate and well informed lady caretaker-guide will take you through the history of textiles and their weaves, dying, colouring and embellishments. Quite a mind blowing lesson in the wonderous abilities of the indian craftsmen of yore. Some rare pieces of old textiles,... More

This museum tells you the story about rich business tradition that Ahmedabad was known as the Manchester of India. Don't miss to book yourself for the guided tour and spare at least two to three hours in the morning.

This is one of the worth-seeing places on the official sightseeing list of Ahmedabad. Anybody interested in seeing and purchasing embroidery and the like can visit this place. Taking an appointment is a good practice before going here.

We had to try several times before we got the appointment for the visit, but it was well worth the effort. The textiles were indeed beautiful, but I also loved the mansion where this exhibit is housed, reflecting a very gracious style of living. We were treated to the fantastic dance display by the resident peacocks! Unfortunately, no photography is... More

After living in AHMEDABAD for over 30 years finally managed to visit. The premises where this museum is setup belongs to the Sarabhài family. Their contribution towards education, healthcare and premier institutions is unmatched. The Textile Museum is a collection of priceless fabrics, clothes and artefacts. There is no fee and the Sarabhài family wants it to be limited to... More

The range of textiles and traditional garments is worth the trip to Ahmedabad. Very knowledgeable guide brought every piece to life. Highly recommended even if you are not a textile buff.

This may sound boring to many on the face of it but the Sarabhai's have done a great service to the world by making this museum available to the public...it captures the industry and art of a bygone era

The collection of textiles is certainly extensive but the lack of any good descriptions make it a tortuous experience. As another reviewer remarked the guide was much like a school teacher and said things like you sit here and you there but she never ever explained anything which was bizarre. This was all regrettable as the museum could be great.... More
