Went to visit this place with great expectations. Was a little disappointed at how the place is presented and maintained. There were not many signboards to be ell us about the place and facilities were poor. Maybe it will improve in future. However the place does give us an insight into the town planning skills of the great Indus Valley... More

We were 4 guyz visiting Gujarat on road trip; Dholavira was one of the must do points after seeing the photos. Recommended to visit entrance of Dholavira in evening at sunset or early sunrise; the entrance has awesome salt land; a mini version of white desert. We opted to stay in Dholavira at Toran Complex by GTDC but it was... More

I went their for the Run the Rann ultra marathon (101kms). the run was organised around the periphery of Khadir bet. The road leading into Khadir Bet is nothing short of excellent, isolated with a beautiful view of the rann all around. The accommodation was extremely good and so was the food. Excellent archaelogical destination and a good museum on-site.... More

Had been here by road. The road leading into Khadir Bet is nothing short of excellent, isolated with a beautiful view of the rann all around. Stayed at Gujarat Government's Toran Tourist Complex , as it is the only available option. Nothing short of pathetic, which was expected. However, the early morning visit to fossil park and later visit to... More

Excellent archaelogical destination and a good museum on-site . Given the state of civic sense and municipal facilities available in the Indian subcontinent, it is truly mind-boggling to see the amazing evidence of such advanced hydro-engineering ,water conservation and waste drainage system that existed more than 5000 years ago. Dholavira is a remarkable " Harappan " site, the largest of... More

Dholavira is a long day trip from Bhuj. We left before sunrise and arrived back after dinner. For us it was worth every minute. This archaeology site takes us back to an ancient part of the human story. Dholavira is one of the five largest Harappan cities, part of the Indus Valley civilization dating back to 2650 BCE. Settlements at... More

Dholavira site is a must see for every Indian and also to feel proud about how our ancestors lived given the resources they had with them. Our guide was very good though cynical of the system.... Apparently a vast portion is yet to be excavated. They have kept the musuem very well and information is ready on hand .

Everyone has covered the basics- the only accommodation near the site leaves much to be desired, but it is convenient and bearable for a night. The site itself is a wonder to behold, but what really made the trip worth it was our guide. He was one of the first locals hired before the excavation started and has seen every... More

Bunga hut accommodation . Basic but more convenient than rushing back to bhuj or gandhidham the same day. Bathrooms have water problem. In winter hot water is barely available & one can forget bathing there. Food is pathetic . Place is averagely clean. Linen fairly dirty. Not recommended for single ladies to stay. Gujrat tourism needs to do something fast... More

Here are the following places to visit at Dholavira Island- 1. Indus Valley Civilization Site & Musuem - Discover a 4500 year old buried city, so well planned that it was millennia ahead of it's time. See the remnants of the artifacts found there. Should take 1-2 hours to visit. On a side note, it had the most hygienic public... More
