This is a must-see for anyone who had a train set as a child. There are more trains in one place than I've ever seen. Also be sure to take a ride on the train out front.

We visited Alamogordo while in Ruidoso last week on vacation. We were looking for a few things to do for a young child. He loves trains so we thought this was a great little place to check out. $6 gets you the great train ride as well as the tour of the toy train setups. There are few attractions as fun. The volunteer your guides are true lovers of the hobby and it shows.

This is part of a park in Alamogordo, a garden railroad that runs through the park train layouts in the small building, another great place to stop in Alamogordo!

As a train nu, this is almost heaven. In the museum, there are thousands of examples of many manufacturers, and types. Much of it is HO gauge, But the day that we were there, a N gauge layout was running. There are several layouts inside, and one large scale for riding on the outside. We rode the train, and it... I'm not much into toy trains, but the volunteers made me very much want to start. Sure, it cost about $12-$15 (can't remember exactly) for two adults to get into the museum and ride the train, but it was such silly fun, it was worth it. The volunteers who collect, build, and run the trains are so into it that... More

When we walked into the Toy Train Depot, we walked into a little train store. There are some really cute train items you can buy. When you pay the $5.00 per person admission fee you can go into the train museum. The museum is divided up into rooms by scale. There is HO scale, N scale, etc. Each room is... More

My family traveled here during the Labor Day weekend and stopped by to visit this very quaint museum to take the train ride and visit the inside museum--one's never too old for a great train ride. Both activities cost us $6.00. The Cottonwood Festival was going on at the time so the train took us to the other side of... More

There are several rooms that house a large model RR layout and many shelves of train cars. A small store is also out front for hobby enthusiasts. The member who took us around had lots of stories and it was hard to sneak off to the outside train ride. The outside ride was fun, but just a straight down and... More

I thoroughly enjoyed the collection of trains at the Toy Train Depot. I can't imagine the time and effort put into their enormous and intricately detailed train sets. My kids had a great time looking at the trains and really liked the train ride. Speaking of kids though, my ten year old son was scolded twice by the people there... More
