This is a natural lake having lots of lotus and beautiful surroundings. It is a bird sanctuary for local as well as migrated overseas birds which are seen only during winter season which is the right time to visit this place. State government has not done anything either to develope or to advertise this lake. It is almost 50 km... More

We were searching for some fresh water and nature after Hudhud and planned this trip after reading reviews. Though we were staying in Vizag, very few people know of this place. Even locals / travel agents drew a blank when we asked. We went ahead to Anakapalle and from there started asking locals. Its just around 20 minutes from Anakapalle... More

Kondakarla Bird Sanctuary is located about an hour away from the city and is best to visit during the winter season. The place is scenic with beautiful clean lake, surrounded by the Eastern Ghats and green Palmyra trees. The local villagers also offer boat rides on the lake with a small fare. These hollow boats are interestingly carved out of... More

1. Kondakarla Bird Sanctuary (Boat ride in Kondakarla) - about one hour from the city, very nice and calm, two logs are combined into a simple boat. Birds, water, green and quite. All the area is very rural and very different from the city. Simple and nice people. This was one of my favorite tours.

Hi!! all nature lovers. During mid-July, along with my family, I visited kondakarla avva. Yes, it is a big lake. May be, as stated, second largest lake in Andhra Pradesh. Though it is mansoon days, in India, still there was less water. Yes, there were white lili plants ( remember: not lotus) inside avva. However, very less flowers are visible.... More

Amazing place to cherish your photography skills. Kondakarla Ava (sanctuary in telegu) is situated in Anakapally around 50 Kms from Visakha. The lake is of more than 2000 Acres huge. and one can see many migratory birds here. And its on your patience how many lotus flowers you can collect. Tip : Be there by 5:30Am - 6 Am.

A 75 minute drive from Vizag and a must see. Its serene and beautiful. Get there early morning or in the evening to see the birds. There are only basic facilities. Boats are made of two hollow tree trunks joined together with an inverted " Charpai " for seating. These boats can be hired for 30 minutes where the boatman... More
