Araku Valley, not too far from Vishakhapatnam is culturally a different zone. It is still very rural and tribal and at the same time has many attractions for the visitors besides its hills and hilly weather like Borra caves, many waterfalls, museum at Araku and Coffee plantations

There was nothing in that place which I found interesting except for those subterranean Tora caves. No greenery; mountain slopes stand denuded of tree cover due to extensive deforestation.

We just wanted to go for a short tour before the next school session starts and chose to visit Araku valley and Visakhapatnam. We were not sure how would it turn out, but after reaching Araku valley, I must say it was a very good choice indeed. Every place has its own beauty and one cannot compare one with another.... More

Nothing much to do there except go to the tribal museum and botanical park. Nothing exciting in either of them. Only the tribal dance in haritha resort was good.

A brilliant four & half hours drive through Vizag beaches & then suddenly through the mountains into the Araku Valley. The morning crisp air through the coffee plantations on both sides of the road are a treat for the eyes & the mountains . You can your coffee on the roadside sold by the tribal population. Very sweet & polite... More

A fine day trip to see an alternative side of Andhra Pradesh - rural and agricultural and lush with coffee, sugar cane and rice fields aplenty. We took a car from town for the 2-3 hour drive into the valley, but if you fancy a very early start, a train goes daily too from Vizag and is even better value.... More

Valleys, Mountain streams, Coffee plantations, Waterfalls (Mostly seasonal), the chill air, the fresh fragrance of the wilderness. The best time is from Oct to December, when the 'Avisi' crop harvests - with blooming yellow flowers across all patches, everywhere in the valley.
