We did a two day, private tour for four from Sharm el Shaikh to Cairo by plane. Day one Pyramids and National Museum, day two Cairo. The company was very flexible on accommodating to our specific needs. If you can afford the moderate extra for a private trip, do it. This way, you can avoid elements of the standard program you don’t want (some rather commercial stops, as well as the pretty bad standard lunch) and replace it with something you like better. We liked the museum and the pyramids very much (how can you not) and the insightful individual Cairo program (special thanks to the guide!) incl. lunch in a restaurant for locals. We upgraded to the ‘5 Star’ Mercury Sphinx Hotel. The hotel is clearly not 5 Star standard and Accor should be ashamed of it. From the viewpoint of the tour and for the moderate extra cost, the hotel was fine. A nice extra: Book Tour Egypt included breakfast in our package, which they did not have to. Thanks for that. Would we recommend the tour? As a private tour with the given flexibility, definitely.
