Decided to take a quick snorkling trip - TGI had one going for two hours so sounded about right for a novice like me. They supplied all the gear and a wet suit for about £16 all in. Great boat ride out to reef - flat out all the way. Got wetter on that than in the water!

There are plenty of padi dive centres taking divers to the many reefs and wrecks in the Red Sea off El Gouna. Great dive sites clear water and plenty of fish.

As a new diver and one that had not dived off a boat the divemaster gave me al the time and advice I required. I would say that the dives are a little expensive but then again the area of El Gouna isnt cheap.

Only bad thing (and the reason for the 4 star rating) is the fact that they can't charge your credit card in euros, but will charge in EGP. So bring the euros in cash to pay for your diving.
