Best whale watching ever! We visited in August during a time when whales visit the coast of Ecuador to breed and give birth. Saw 5 whales up close (right next to boat) and one baby whale!!! My kids were in heaven. That being said, we also when deep sea fishing and didn't have any luck. The captain, Pedro, who is... More

The water is great, you can take advantage of the vendors that walk up and down the beach "constantly" and order off the menu from a local restaurant and have food delivered to you on the beach and eat it there. Avoided eye contact with practically every vendor and said "No, Gracias" about every minute to a new vendor going... More

Visiting Salinas for the first time and was pleasantly surprised at how clean and safe the Salinas beach area is along the Malecon. As with most tourist beaches around the world, it does have its share of vendors trying to sell their crafts. But also carts selling fresh cold coconuts, ice cream, empanadas, soft drinks, tatoo artists, and even restaurants... More

Beach can be quite rocky. Lots of vendors. You can rent an umbrella and chairs for the day for $5. We were there during Carnival and it was very busy. Advantage is that it is across the street from lots of restaurants and stores. When the tide comes in sometimes there is no beach left as the waves come close... More

Depending on the time of year, can be very crowded, as everyone comes here from Guayaquil. Grab a chair and umbrella for a couple of bucks all day.

Beach is overcrowded and the water has a lot of weeds floating in it. The vendors try to keep the beacch clean but it is a dirty beach. Lots of broken bottles and plastic around, too bad people can't clean up after themselves. too many vendors on the beach. way nicer up the coast.

It is a very nice beach. It can get crowded depending on the time of the year you go. The sand was very clean and the water was as well. There are little shops along the strip in where you can buy beach stuff, but be ready to pay an arm and a leg. There is a local sand castle... More

As I have visited many beaches I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that they only charge $2. A chair including the umbrella. Very affordable. During the week the beach is quiet but be aware that on the weekend wealthy ecuadorians come to their vacation homes and the beach is packed.

Very crowded, fuel from boats in the water, the beach was a garbage dump, not at all like the rest of the coast in this part of the country. It is a big city beach and it shows. You can rent jet ski's here if your interested; $20 per half hour, prices are negotiable.
