I took the flat, paved hike out to this beautiful beach, which is totally worth it, but under the midday sun the theoretically easy 40-minute walk back is surprisingly grueling due to the heat and erases the cooling nature of the water. To walk to the best swimming part of the beach is another half hour. For swimming I would... More

Walk through jungle to get there--exhausting heat. Travel to Galapagos later in the year--cooler. More

We took a $1 taxi to the start of the trail and hiked the 2km in. We wore flip flops, which was probley not the best idea. The trail is on lave-rock bricks and goes up and down, so it was hard on the feet. You have to sign in and out, opens from 6am to 6pm. Don't forget to... More

This place is paradise on Earth, truly. We reached Tortuga Bay's gate by bike from town (10mins) and then walked for about half hour to the beach. The trail has cobblestone all the way till the beach so its easy to walk on it, but it does get really, really hot. Carry some water with you, as there is nothing... More

It is a long walk. Take plenty of water and suntan lotion. You can take a taxi to entrance but still a few miles walk to beach. The water was not clear for snorkling. If you choose you can take a water taxi back to "downtown" but it will cost $10.00 per person. More

Beautiful beach but get ready for the short hike in. Remember to follow Javier's map to get to the lagoons. More

If sea iguanas had a highway, Totuga Bay would be it. There are dozens of black sea iguanas running up and down the beach. It is really a site to see and worth the price of addmission to the Galapagos Islands (Ecuardor charges you $100 to set foot on the Galapagos Islands as a tourista). More
