Nothing special at all, just a small lake that is crowded and touristy. There is much much better (and cheaper) in Xinjiang.

Tianchi lake was one of the highlights of my trip in Xingjiang - it is as beautiful as it looks in the photos! Unfortunately the local government has transformed this beautiful lake into a big tourist attraction, charging 190RMB to all visitors! They have buses going from the visitor centre to the lake and they have built boardwalks all around... More

At the first look, you see what you see on all the photos of Tianchi Lake (Heavenly Lake), large body of water in front of layers and layers of mountain peaks. Then you wonder if this is it? It turned out you'll really need to hike a bit to appreciate the whole place. We realized it too late to catch... More

Just go here and take tea and relax. What a beautiful spiritual place. Lovely surroundings and walks and plenty of places to sit and watch the other people enjoying this wonderful place. We loved it.

I went here in china summer vacation so it realy crowded . We should got a bus (include in ticket price) to the lake. The scenery along the way to heavenly lake was also beautiful. The lake was about 15 minute walk from the bus parking lot. For those who did not want to walk there some battery car that... More

First up, the view was alright... not too special though. I just found it very upsetting how the place tries to suck money out of your pocket wherever they can. They built the entrance gate 20 km from the actual lake so that they can ask a rip of price of 90 yuan for a bus ticket. We managed to... More

The scenery is very pretty, looks like an Alpine lake. Since I had grown up at the foot of the European Alps, I was not particular keen on taking a long bus ride to similar mountains in China. However, I was fascinated by the industrial development on the way there, by the many Chinese visitors who took pictures of the... More

We visited the lake as part of a Wendy Wu tour. So we travelled from Urumqi to the lake and back. The buses stop at a tourist centre some way away where you then catch a shuttle bus. The lake is beautiful with snow capped mountains. But having travelled in Europe a lot there are several more stunning and larger... More
