The beach in Huangdao is cleaner and nicer than in Qingdao city. A good change of pace and was not very crowded as well. It is more trouble to get there than in Qingdao, however.

A nice wide beach with plenty of room for beach activities. Would be good if there were some better eating areas though. Really caters mostly for Chinese tourists, so you soon realize you are but a guest. Will be good when the subway is built, but then the crowds!
Expected a beach packed with all in sundry including the staple diet of Chinese guys in dodgy swimming trunks taking photos of their girlfriends all day long, but actually I was pleasantly surprised! because the beach had ample space and was very relaxing in terms of the ambience. Did not encounter litter as some have mentioned in reviews here.

if u dont mind to have thousands of chinese arround u , it is ok. For a foreigner ,it is quite difficult to manage for taking a tent in order to change your cloth , but once u learn it is is easy :) .. the water was clean enough ,and the sand acceptable .
Its nice for its isolation and lack of tourists, but its not maintained often, and a lot of rubbish is on the beach.
Good and a clean beach.Easy to travel to and fro from the beach. Weekends are good as you will find plenty tourists around that place and plenty stalls selling ,local food and items.
Golden beach is great because its long and wide. But snad is trucked in. Go to silver beach for better sand, more natural seeting with rocks, etc. In the city, just go to shilaoren beach.
it was winter, so very few people were there, but I got an excellent view
It is es very nice beach just in the center of Huangdao. With 1 Mio. Chinese people arround you, you should get thoughtful why nobody goes swimming - as Chinese also go swimming at 10 Degrees just for steeling the body...
The water quality is pretty poor because of the nearby chemical plants. And the biggest oil harbour of China...

This beach is recommended in the guide books. However, we follow the advise in lonely planet and took the ferry to HuangDao and then bus 1, but the bus route didn't ended at the beach and we had to take a taxi for a 5 min ride to the beach.
It's far way more short and convenient if you take...
