Essentially a big marina constructed for the 2008 Olympics it is now a great place to wander at any time of the year. Enjoy shops, cafes, restaurants or even the museum. If you are feeling a little lazy you can hire an electric car but honestly the sea air here is invigorating. I would also reccomend hiring a speedboat for... More

The 2008 Olympics sailing site. I suggest you get on an electrical cart or the little train at the entrance. Otherwise, lots of walking and not much else.

This facility, renovated for the 2008 Olympics features hundreds of dock spaces for private, public, corporate, and occasionally government watercraft. The harbor is protected by an artificial jetty with a lighthouse at the south end. Flags from the participating Olympic countries are still flying on the jetty and various bars and shops are located on the lower level. The World... More

This appears to be a new area built for the 2008 Olympics. The area is nice, clean, and has a couple of shopping malls, a wide range of restaurants and plenty of cafés and stalls to spend time in. There is a little beer stall where you can get a TsingTao and sit and watch the world go by. Or... More

A great area adjacent to the Marina and great if you are staying at the nice Intercontinental. Walk right out to the old German Lighthouse but unfortunately you can't enter or is there any information about the History - not even in Chinese. However there are great views back to the city and out over the Ocean and across the... More

This is why Qingdao is so modern - the 2008 Olympic yachting was held here and now it hosts the extreme sailing each year and other events. the marina has some huge luxury yachts. A lovely walk with darling harbour shops on one side and marina City shopping centre on the other. The Hotel Intercontinental is right here.
