Should be the sailing centre of China. Unfortunately it is dominated by tourist boats that put up a sail and motor out for half an hour.

Went to the sailing center on a beautiful sunny day. I have Chinese friends that grew up in the area and their input was really educational. Learned the early history of the area and all the changes made for the 2008 Olympics. Had dinner and a few beers at a restaurant on the pier later in the day. That night... More

Apparently much of this area was put here for the 2008 Olymics. We enjoyed the area knowing this. After a walk about we rented a yellow golf cart. Our driver knew very few words of English. He brought us to the light house where we got out to walk and take pictures. He took us to a spot where I finally understood him...by standing... More

The Olympic Sailing Center is a great place to spend a while on a nice day. The Olympic atmosphere is still present through the rings and flame. From the tip of the pier you get a great view of the Qingdao skyline.

We had lunch in the mall just next to it and then walked around. Very nice (on a sunny day) with some activities. If you have the time, you can hang around there for a while and have some fun.

Essentially a big marina constructed for the 2008 Olympics it is now a great place to wander at any time of the year. Enjoy shops, cafes, restaurants or even the museum. If you are feeling a little lazy you can hire an electric car but honestly the sea air here is invigorating. I would also reccomend hiring a speedboat for... More

The 2008 Olympics sailing site. I suggest you get on an electrical cart or the little train at the entrance. Otherwise, lots of walking and not much else.
