Even though it's man made senery, but the place and senery are pretty good. Enough for family to have 1 night journey to eat and drink.

It is the comteprorary Suzhou view. it is a definetely commercial place with lots of luxry hotels, shopping centers, pubs and restuarant. Jinjihu wheel looks better in night.
This is a large man-made lake. Attractively park nearby. I stayed at a nearby hotel and enjoyed the view. The designers of this huge industrial park have wisely included some natural scenic elements to make it more liveable.
I would highly recommend you to stay in lake side's intercontinental hotel. with lake view. I stayed there at 20th floor and at night, with lighted temple in the middle of the lake, a perfect 10 photo ops
On the western shore of Jinji Lake, between the lake and Xingzhou Street, there is a modern garden, a freely accessible public park in fact, that is very worthwhile visiting. It's mainly very well tended grass, with some trees here and there, and numerous statues that are well executed. They are not too modern, but not simply realistic representations either....

Its a lake similar to Xihu/West lake in Hangzhou in size but while Xihu is more green with lots of Chinese style structures, Jinqi Lake has only got concrete structures around it. We visited Moon Harbor, very nicely developed area with lot of dining options around the lake, quite far from old city but directly connected by Subway line 1.
It is one of the best places to see in Suzhou. The lights at night are a treat. They also have fire & laser show every Friday and Saturday near Rainbow walk.
This lake is nice enough to stroll around, but it has been surrounded by commercialism to such an extent that it is sometimes disappointing.
It's very cold in the winter but Jinji Lake is just lovely with a "Bellagio" type fountain show on Friday and Saturday nights.
There are several nice areas around Jinji Lake. On the North end you have Rainbow Walk (Zapata's Mexican Rest. A++, Starbucks, etc) The fountain show on the weekend evenings is very nice. South End, Li Gong Di (1912 Bar Street) very fun night life (I like the band at Jenny's)
