East Lake is a peaceful oasis of trees and water in the middle of highly urban Wuhan. There are small boats that will take you on lake tours, but they are fairly expensive. In Chinese cities, it is easy to be overwhelmed by the hectic, crowded streets. An afternoon by the lake is a nice antidote.

The east lake is a real beauty! There are many attractions around the lake, such as boat rental, bike rental and more. It is pretty big also. A lot of fishermans around the coast - it really is a place of pure joy. Recommend for anyone that likes to take a walk and discover the beauty of Wuhan

We just drove around it - which takes a good while - obviously there were boats that take you out and we saw Temples on the wooded hills...

This lake / park needs days to see. But every inch was so beautiful. This park is a great way to take a break from touring and relax. We took the trolley car to get an over view of the park. it was worth it just to understand the size. It makes a few stops for photos or something to... More

What a beautiful lake/park area! We were pleasantly surprised with our lovely outing to East Lake. We were able to take a golf cart type ride around the lake area and stopped at the main areas to explore and take pictures. We loved looking around and feeding the fish. We had a great family day here and would love to... More

While in China, our group learned to dragon boat race in the East lake, but when some of our group asked if we could swim in it (it looked so much cleaner than the other water bodies in China), the university (Hubei U of E) forbid it because they said it was dangerous. I wouldn't visit this lake unless you... More

This lake, that might be better described as an inland see is very big. There is a road around the outside shore and another road that actually runs through the centre of the lake, however at the moment they are building a tunnel under the lake so many roads have been diverted from the original route and fences and barriers...
