The Henan Museum was small but never the less very interesting. There were some very interesting artefacts on display and these were accompanied by well written description banners in English.

I just went to the museum but unfortunately the main building is closed until late 2016. They have set-up a small building for you to visit, I hired a guide and felt the extra knowledge was worth the cost. the guides either speak English or Chinese. This smaller building only had a handful of items compared to there monster 5000... More

It's closed. Doesn't say it on the website. Phone number is disabled as well. Roads around it all under renovation as well. Very hard to arrive here by taxi as cars cannot get through to the entrance. Trekked through the snow to get here. No signs telling us what happened or when it closed or when it will reopen. Very... For anyone interested in chinese art, history, culture etc this superb museum is a must visit. The quality of the exhibits is superb and the display at the high end of the sometimes variable quality of chinese museums

This is one of the five best museums in all China, largely because so much history has happened in Henan Province. Bronze vessels from the King of Zheng tomb excavated in Xinzheng in 1923 formed the nucleus of the museum's collections. Shang jades and bronzes from Anyang, and especially Lady Fuhao's Tomb, are extremely significant in that her tomb is... More

Henan Museum in Zhengzhou is not big. But the museum houses more than 130 thousand artifacts with a few of them dated 8000 years ago. We spent 90 minutes at the museum. The museum is very organized and full air conditioned. Hiring a good guide worth all our money spent. For us, the guide had done an excellent job to... More

Some of the displays were really cool, however it was really repetivite. I bet there are over 500 bowls on display. The kids were bored which makes it hard to enjoy. Definitely not kid friendly.

Zhengzhou itself doesn't have many things to do, but this museum is definitely a must if you are here. If you are interested in Chinese history you will like this place. It's a fantastic place to spend the whole day there.

If you are interested in archeology, you will like this museum. If you are interested in Chinese art, I suggest you restrict yourself to the top floor. It contains the beginnings of a respectable pottery and porcelain collection and a jade collection. The rest you can do on fast forward.
