I went to West Island with hopes to swim and snorkel with the family, but this was not possible. When we got there only a very small part of the beach was open to swim in and no snorkeling was possible, only scuba diving. The island which could have been a pristine beauty was over commercialized with; jet ski, parasailing,... More

Fun water games but crowded with chinese tourists, this is expected because of late more and more chinese tourists are travellling. We went with an orgazied tour for this part, they also supply fresh fruits while we were there

The beach is nice, the water rides are there to be enjoyed but the prices are a little high. We managed to bargain the prices a bit.

we drove there by a 7 minute speedboat ride, hoping to have a good swim, maybe dive, snorkeling… turns out divinng was either closed or 200-500 yuan, it was extremely confusing and we rented a spot on a beach, but it was pretty full so we could hardly snorkel… all in all the island wasnt a nice experience for me.... A speed boat whisks you to the West Island which is gradually being developed for leisure and tourism. It was very popular with the Chinese, I don't recall seeing any other westerners. You can hire bikes to see the island - we went for the buggy option. There are pleasant walks to take with lovely ocean views and a busy... More

The beaches are ok in this island but very touristy and it cost 148 RMB to go there. Don't dive there, it's a disaster!!!! and very expensive too (580 RMB!!!)
