Place is not bad, beach is spacious, enviroment is not the best you can see but is also pleasent and has its moments. HOWEVER, reaching there on weekends takes up to 3 hours from Shenzhen (nanshan even worse), for such time is easier to pass custom to Hong Kong and in similar period reach beach with less crowd, no entrance... Beach by itself could be beautiful place but Chinese people don't care, they make garbage from the beach!!! Trash everywhere, it's even scary to step because can be glass or something else... I have no comments, really sad about that place! Hope they will change their behavior and will start to love their country and beautiful nature of China! Xichong... More

A few years ago it was the place to go as it was not as well know, but now its crowded and dirty so you're better off heading over to a beach in Hong Kong.

OK- While Xichong is by no means a wonder of the world, there have been multiple occasions where I've had to stop and take in its beauty. I can most distinctly recall one day where I was playing in an ultimate frisbee tournament and the sky momentarily became grey. What may have been considered a damper by some actually enhanced... If this is the best beach in Shenzhen and Guangdong, then the standards are very low. Visited on an average weekend in the summer, this beach was very dirty and fairly crowded, despite being an enormous pain to get to. Locals are happy to eat and leave the trash (bones, rinds, bags, etc.) all over the beach, which makes it... More

Yes I guess it is one of the best beaches in Guangdong but still dirty and not very pleasant. It is nice for a couple of hours but also nice to leave again. Usually too many People and therefore also quite dirty.

If you've been to the beaches of Florida, USA, the Caribbean, the Gulf of Mexico or the South Pacific and are hoping for a similar experience, forget China's beaches. But...if you are looking for a beach in China and have no other options, Xichong beach is a nice option. In east Shenzhen on Dapeng peninsula, it's an almost relaxed and... More

This beach can be reached in 1 to 2 hours (or even more) from downtown Shenzhen, depending on the traffic (avoid late afternoon/beginning of evening as the locals like to go there for BBQ/camping... and that's it: no sunbathing for them) Avoid public holidays or children's holidays also for that one, as the beach can be extremely packed with large...
