Reasonably OK to kill the time, if you're there in off season. I was there on a sunny day, and could enjoy it, however I've seen better.. Maybe the Dutch are too spoiled when flowers/gardens are concerned

Loved it. It's such a nice tranquil spot, particularly in the late afternoon as the sun is starting to set. The view is excellent, and the climb is not overly exhausting. It is quite crowded however, so make sure to be careful with your timing. There's some excellent spots around the back to just sit and chill out, enjoy the... More

Once you climb on top of Riguang Mountain you have a great 360 degree look out over Gulangyu and Xiamen. As the whole island, the best thing is to visit it during the week avoiding the Weekend as you will not be alone… Note that there is an entrance fee to climb the mountain.

It is at the highest point of Gulangyu Island. Very popular and congested with tourists but worth the time to get up there for a great panoramic view of the island as well as part of Xiamen.

This is a pure hustle for suckers who climb a steep set of stairs and then expect a spectacular view. I have a better view from my bedroom window than this tourist trap. Avoid it and spend your money on the good street vendors.

The climb is quite steep, but not that high. I suppose the view would have been better on a clearer day, but when we visited, visibility was poor, couldn't see all that far. You wouldn't be missing out on much if you gave it a miss ...

You can go that park and piano museum and have a decent view too for less money (60 RMB is the price for this rock). If you are budget-conscious, skip it. Otherwise, why not? You are already on the island. But I really don't think the view is anything special.

After climbing up, you can see an overview of the whole island and Xiamen city. The place is high and you need some time to go all the way up, but it is really fun.

It absolutely takes an effort just to reach the top but I think it is worth it. Make sure that you are fit for the climb and wear comfortable clothes. Great views of the Gulangyu Island as well as Xiamen City from the top. But I have to warn you that it is crowded too when you get there. The... More
