Huandao Road is the ring road that runs from Xiamen University up the coastline to Wuyuan Bay and beyond. Starting from Xiamen Uni, you'll pass Baicheng Beach (heavily touristed, water quality not great), Hulishan Cannon Fort (one cannon, not much else, although it is fired daily at 16.15). Next is Daring Duck - the place to sail, kayak, paddleboard, meet... More

When this ring road was built 15 years ago, I thought, "What a waste! No cars!" Now it has too many cars, and buses, and...so avoid it on holidays. Even so, it is a beautiful road, with paths for hiking, biking, roller blading, lots of beaches for volleyball and places for kite flying, rental places for bicycles and sailboats, and... More

I was living in Xiamen for over 15 years. I like this place! Clean and beautiful island. Enjoy the sunshine at the beach!

The Huandao road is China's most magnificient city developement ever. A portion of the road system was on water. Take a ride on this section has absolutely splendid experience. If you have been to Xiamen years ago, you will be amazed on your revisit. When you landed on the beach sided road section, you will definitely be getting busy with... More

You can rent bikes to go along this road, but: 1. The bike way is 100 meters from the beaches, and the beach views are blocked by the buildings; 2. You'll need to paddle very hard to get over the slopes. The footpath built along the beaches is fabulous. You can see the wonderful sea views while walking.

While not really something that I was particularly interested in, it was a nice afternoon of walking amongst the older buildings on the island.

We got a tandem bike and rented it for the whole day at a great price (300¥ deposit and ¥10 an hour, prices may vary though). Very simple and easy to rent. The views are great. The beaches are full of people and lots of other cyclists will be there taking advantage of the great weather. The two towers they... More
