The campus is large and lovely. There are many plants, trees, and a few large park areas including one with a lake. Many of the buildings on the campus are old and have a lot of character. Quite nice to look at. What was a bit hard to bare on the day I went were all the people throwing their... More

Xiamen University has the nicest campus of any university I've ever been to -- even better than China's premier Peking University. It's a popular attraction because it's free to visit, so it's very crowded. Unfortunately, the visitors take no care for others and drop their trash everywhere; seriously it looked like a rubbish tip, with ice cream wrappers, soda bottles,... More

Some of the old dormitories has interesting colonial style architecture. Other than that, there is not much of interest. The temple next to the entrance is worth a look and also the vegetarian restaurant next to the temple.

This sprawling university is nice to stroll around and admire the beautiful campus. Be informed that they don't allow visitors to enter the campus between 1 to 5 pm. There is also a queue and can be very long. So try to avoid falling in line 30 minutes before closing time and get disappointed. The gate opposite Nanputuo temple seems... More

While it's one of the most popular sightseeing spot for tourists (inland ones I believe), normal visitor like me don't know much about the historic context of the uni, making the visit lacking a bit substance. Would appreciate if the uni can place a plaque on the most historically/ culturally significant spots to explain about the stories of the uni.

I love the place, it's very big, you can walk for hours inside from the main gate to the opposite gate. The beach is very near just outside the gate and the night you can walk along the beach. Soo nice!

Nothing more than a lovely place to stroll around at your leisure, admiring one of China's oldest unis. I'd advise taking the back entrance in though as the front looked terribly crowded.

After visiting the nearby temple, it is always nice to walk through the campus. The place not to miss is the athletics track next to which you find some old Chinese buildings (student residences).

The University goes to the city center to the seaside. There are shops, banks, buildings and gardens. Amazing!

Okay ... to be fair, the grounds are well maintained and looks okay ... but it's just a university, and for practical purposes, there's nothing to do except walking around ... Why such a high ranking on TA?
