Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, the Old Works has been reborn on the site of Anaconda's historic century old copper smelter. The first course ever built on a Federal EPA Superfund site, Nicklaus incorporated many historic relics in his design. With its affordability, course conditioning and friendly service, Old Works is quickly building a reputation as one of the premiere, daily fee golf experiences in the Northwest region.

Great course to play

We travel through Anaconda every fall and love to play the course. It's well maintained and very challenging.

Jack Nicklaus designed courses tend to be too hard for the average golfer, but not this one. 5 different t boxes so pick the one that fits your game - if you can't readily make a par 4 green in 2, you are playing from too far back. Fairways are generous, greens are big but do have lots of slope... More

The course itself is magnigficent - using leftover black slag from the Anaconda smelting operations - certainly a different look for a course and quite beautiful. Food is available via a roving cart, grab & go sandwiches and full meals in the house resturant.

This is a top rate course with the very unique feature of "black sand" in the bunkers. The sand is actually copper slag from the local mine but plays like real sand. The course is an excellent track and is pretty straight forward is you haven't played it before. It offers tees that appeal to all level of golfers. It... More

I just returned from my first trip to Old Works this year. The course is in perfect and I mean perfect shape. It is a great value and the staff is superb. I highly recommend it to all golfers.

Every year my golf girls and I take a golf adventure. This time we did Old Works, Fairmont and St. Regis. Old Works was the best. If you are in the Idaho/Montana area and you have your clubs handy it's worth the drive to play there. If you are not a great golfer like me, you will probably end up... More

My son and I met to play 18 holes and yet again, we had a great time. I don't do this often, but it affords us a chance to get together and visit. I simply love he way the course is carved out under the cliffs and ledges of this area of Anaconda. They have done a wonderful job of... More

I count my blessings at the courses throughout the world that I have had the privilege of visiting and continue to think of Old Works as one of my favorites. My opinion is the Golden Bear did it right when he looked over this former copper refinery and used its history as an integral part of the course design. He... More

I was nervous about playing this course because I'm not that good at golf. I loved it. This is a world class course.

This is one of my favorite courses to play. We make a semi-annual pilgrimage to Anaconda to play Old Works in the spring and again in the late fall. Five sets of tee boxes allow for the player to determine how difficult they want their round to be. I have never played from the tips as the next set of... More
