Excellent view from the top, good train journey up despite being busy, ridiculers system for the return though, we had to wait 3.5 hours to get a train back down. Part empty trains leaving all the time but you have to abide by the ticket system!

You need to go when the weather is good as on our trip we started off in reasonable conditions but as we reached the summit it rained heavily and we could not walk to the very top.

Expensive but worth it on a really sunny day. Views great at the top and a couple of restaurants but not too much else!

well worth a visit, convenient and comfortable train, reliable service, excellent simple coffee place at the summit. Wide open space to get a 360 view. At peak times, you have to buy the ticket a couple of hours ahead and may have to wait for a couple of hours to get a train back down.

A long steep journey to the top, but well worth it. Great views. Restaurant, hotel and cafe at the top serving various fare to suit all pockets. A great experience for a novice traveller to Austria.

We enjoyed the ride in the old train. The views were amazing. The price was a bit expensive. The ride was comfortable and fast.

The journey itself is an experience and offers some fantastic views. But wait until you get to the top! We were lucky and went up on the clearest day so had stunning views all around. Sometimes near the edge is not for the feint hearted to look down, but keep looking out and you can spend hours watching the never... More

Views at the top are amazing, you need a clear day though and the TV at the base shows you the current weather conditions.

It was a very nice ride to the top, but especially up there it was very beautiful. You can really enjoy some views over the Wolfgangsee, Mondsee and Attersee. We were with 4, but the youngest didn't have to pay because he was below 6. In total we still had to pay 71,80 euro. The train took us up in... More

We were extremely lucky with the weather, as we were only in St Wolfgang for 2 nights and it was raining when we arrived - though the next day was clear and sunny. We got to the station around 9.15 and were able to book on the 10am train. Try to get to the front of the queue for your... More
