We are so fortunate to have this wonderful trail available for recreation all year long. It is easy biking if there isn't too much wind. I've seen walkers, bikers, rollerbladers, and skateboaders on the trail. Sometimes, I don't see anyone at all. The scenery is absolutely beautiful in certain areas. The colors of the trees and grasses in the fall... More

We stayed a Canary Beach Resort .during a varm afternoon two of us took our bicycles down the road to the bike trail. The road ha a wide shoulder and we never had a car pass us. The trail went all the way to Glenwood right through the countryside. There was no traffic though we did not see any wildlife... More

This is a must-see for bikers and walkers. Beautiful sightseeing through woods, past lakes, and small towns. Paved, no more than a 10% grade. Used by snowmobilers in the winter.

I really enjoyed riding this trail ... we went from Osakis almost to Garfield and back. Passed many beautiful lakes. The trail was flat and easy to ride. It was also relatively quiet; though the weather was perfect, there weren't that many people out riding. Can't wait to explore more of this trail in the future.

We've vacationed in Alexandria during the past 3 summers and just love biking on the Central Lakes Trail. It's flat, paved, and never crowded. You'll ride by lakes and farms and see beautiful country.

The Central Lakes Trail is fantastic - we rode bicycles on it from Osakis to Garfield. This trail is interesting - along the way you'll see pelicans, lots of song birds, marshes, lakes and there is a good mix of shade and sun to keep it interesting but cooled. It is well kept up; I didn't notice any frost heaves... More

The trail is kept up and well cared for the branches are cut back so you are not being hit in the face. The girls Took a ride for 2 miles then back just to get the feel of a trail ride. Very nice!

The Central Lakes Trail spans Douglas County and runs from Fergus Falls, MN to Osakis Mn. It use to be a railroad track and is paved. You can walk, bike, job, or roller blade during the summer or snowmobile in the winter on the evenly paved trail. In Alexandria you can rent bikes for up to 4 people. It has... More

We like to ride our bikes on the Trail frequently during the summer months. We usually get on the Trail at Garfield and ride into Alexandria and back, or else we ride west from Garfield to Ashby and back. The Trail is built on a reclaimed railroad bed, so it's very wide and level - no steep hills to climb.... More
