Great trail

Love the trail, level and scenic, great for walking or biking! There is even a place to eat on the trail in Alexandria.

We enjoyed this trail overall. It s best when in the wooded areas and less good when riding along the road or with the interstate in view (more so on the Wobegon portion of the trail to the south). On the bright side the pavement is very smooth generally allowing fast riding. All told the trail (with the Wobegon connection)... More

Because we live very near the Root River Bike Trail in SE MN, I use this trail as a comparison to all others. The Central Lakes Trail was completely surfaced with wide lanes but was just not as scenic or covered as the Root River trail. Did like that there were many towns along the trail. We biked from Ashby... More

Beautiful trail to walk in the Alexandria area. Enjoyed to peacefulness! Safe and well maintained. Decided this type of trail is tops on my list of picking a retirement spot for in my future!

Alexandria is a great place to start. Going west to Garfield is very scenic along the Lakes. Going East to Osakis it is nice with quiet countryside. Nice area for parking in Alexandria. Nice wide paved trail on an old railroad track.

We live just a few blocks off the Central Lakes Trail and try to go bike riding most nights of the week. Just love the quality of the trail and the fact it goes through so many little towns.

I had a great run on the CLT. For a more natural portion of the trail, head out west near the RV park and go west from there.

It was an old railway bed that was converted to a walking / biking trail. It is smooth and generally flat. It goes a great deal of the way across Minnesota. There are several old depots that have been converted to restaurants. It goes by several lakes. It has many scenic areas.

Paved trail goes for miles along lakes, prairies, woodlands and small towns. Very pleasant ride with options to stop for a picnic or grab something at local restaurants.

Because it is built on an abandoned railroad bed, the trail is relatively flat and easy to bike. We biked west from Alexandria to Evansville, 40 miles round trip, and it took four hours. Very easy, even for this out of shape 64-year-old.
