My kids had a great time looking at the Dinosaur and Rock exhibits! Can easily do the whole museum in about an hour and a half. Planetarium is small but kids enjoyed the show. GREAT giftshop!

I visited this museum on a Saturday morning and had no problems finding parking on a side street nearby (metered parking). If it was a busy day on campus it could be challenging to find parking nearby. The bus stop is right outside the museum if you want to take public transportation.
There are three floors of interesting exhibits. Highlights...

This is a free museum (donations accepted) at the University of Michigan. It has a fantastic display of Dinosaur skeletons and bones. The Museum is not overly large, and can be seen in just a few hours. Parking is tricky to find, as there is no parking close to the museum. But overall, a really great place to take the...

Great for an afternoon or with a school group. They've redone a lot of the exhibits, and often rearrange things to keep it interesting for your next visit.
Complete collections of Great Lakes fauna specimens. Nice dioramas of early Indian camps and early geological mock ups of the ocean life before vertebrates and after. And dinosaur skeletons! Displays are updated frequently.
I like the location right on campus and in an older, architecturally interesting building. This place is great for kids who like dinosaurs and animals. You can see all the exhibits in an hour or so and then walk downtown for some lunch. There are some different exhibits on the upper floors that are interesting but might bore younger kids...unless...

We have been to this museum many times over the years and have always enjoyed it. It is located in a beautiful old building right on the central campus of the University of Michigan near Washtenaw and Geddes, and has several floors filled with interesting exhibits on all aspects of natural history.
It is not a hands-on type of science...

Wow! My daughter had to do homework, so we went there. We did some reading. There was a wooly mammoth that had been found in the area and the footprints were molded. It was really cool learning about the wildlife in Michigan.
This museum is fantastic! It consists of several stories of exhibits, including prehistoric animals, current wildlife, space, rocks, ancient artifacts, and special exhibits (a recent one was the evolution of health).
Most times the museum has only moderate crowds, mostly students or locals with small children. It is moderately quiet.
While it is fairly small, the museum has interesting exhibits...

If your kids are interested in biology or science at all - this is the place to come. The mastadon skeleton is bound to bring up some fun conversations. And they have a small, but fun gift shop for the kids.
