Visiting the monastery and Church of San Felipe was incredible. The views over the terracotta rooftops of Sucre is really spectacular, as well well as the actual location itself.
A must do for Sucre.

We went to visit the convent San Felipe Neri in Sucre. At first I didn't know that it was even possible to visit this convent which is also a school for girls. The entrance is only 10 Bolivianos. It is possible to get onto the roof of the monasterio to get beautiful views of the city, to visit the church...

This would have to be my number 1 thing to do in Sucre, and the only one that we recommended to every person we spoke to after we went. We heard a lot of people complaining that they had tried to visit this place, but couldn´t get in. Here´s how we did it:

You can climb up the church between 2:30-6:00 pm. The entrance is through a school. If the door is closed, just knock.
The view from above is great!

Took us two days off and on to see this. Guide books, local knowledge and outside signage all seem to have conflicting information. Persevere!. Knock loudly on the side street door to make them let you in on other days than the Sunday mass. Worth the visit

To visit the church you have to look for the school's entrance. It's a beautiful building, very well-preserved, in Spanish style. You also get a great view of the city!

The building is surrounded by high walls. We rang the bell on a big wooden door onto the street and were let into a small reception area. Through was a large cloister with fountain in centre and the church (not open) on one side. We climbed to the church roof for views (so-so).
The original building was built 1625 by...
