Relatively speaking - this is not a tremendously exciting area to explore. It's a nice break from the modern concrete - it's a relaxed walkabout - and there are some great smells and traditional Arab small stores to wander into and out of. And yes, it's worth the wander if the alternative is to stay inside a modern hotel. In... More

One of the more colorful places to go in Jeddah, bustling on a Thursday evening, full of cheap shopping, light food, outdoor wandering and all sorts of souqs and shops. The good news is this historic neighborhood has been declared a UNESCO historic district and much work is being done to restore and repair the existing, historic buildings. Unfortunately, too... Balad is an historical area tucked in some side streets in downtown Jeddah. The old buildings are quite impressive and the whole area has a great vibe especially in the evenings when the place comes alive and when all the shops are open. Anything you could possibly want you can find in the Balad and if you can't find it,... More

Parked the car in Almahmal center, walk down the street towards Naseef house passing by shops and money transfer and exchange, by the way, you can get good exchange rate. Then through the gold market, where you can find 24carats gold sets and pieces. French and europ perfumes? I do not advise it as it can be unoriginal, but arabian... More

Balad is among the oldest shopping areas in Jeddah and have many varieties to shop for and it is also where most of the currency exchangers are located. Shopping in Balad don't just pay the price given to you as you can always get a better deal. Try to get there just before sunset as it offers plenty of walking... More

Good for variety of consumer items. Need to bargain more. Labelled items are very costly, and if we bargain we can reduce more price. I had purchased some shoes, abaya etc nearly half price after lot of bargain. This area is very good for eating and drinking. Good restaurants around there.

It will be great shopping experience when you were there in the Balad. Good for street shopping. Careful at the time of Prayers. All the shops close at that time. Most of branded watch, gold ornaments are available. Some traditional saudi perfumes are really excellent

It's a very congested place if you stay there, but overall good for bus sinuses and shopping. Corniche is amazing, bus station is very near. Limited option for foods
