This is a market area where you can get most things - electrical, clothes, baggage etc. Its fairly typical new market - dont go expecting an Arabian Souq, but if you need something for the house or if (like me) you want a suitcase or travel bag, its fine.

I had been there for a evening stroll , where I found that old style shops & big market of gold market was worth visiting. The historical hajj rout is worth going through, the Al Dahb street is nice to walk, the shops which sells the chocolates and date sweets are very reasonable in price as compared to malls.

Balad is the historical part of Jeddah and it is an interesting place to visit as that is where all the old architecture can be found, but it's still quite dirty and unless there is a festival going on, there is not too much to do. There are loads of shops, but nothing much to buy except maybe cheap souvenirs.

Gold and garments mostly. You can see both the old and modern Saudi Arabian architecture and buildings and perhaps the market itself is arranged in such a way that by simple strolling around you will find almost all the goods clustered. But beware of fake items as well but the shoppers are honest by saying it as high quality and... More

If you are in Jeddah this is a must see. Wonderful old buildings with traditional architecture many unfortunately many in disrepair with crowds on the streets, but it is all authentic and gives you a flavor of what old Jeddah was and in this part of town still is like. Best to go with someone who knows the area and... More
