Much improved on the Balad of a few years ago and now a pleasant place to visit. Some of the old buildings are interesting to see, architecturally, and it's nice to see that some are being renovated. I lIves in Jeddah City more than 21 Years. This is shopping Huband downtown city center. this very famous for more than 1000 years as trade center.

I was expecting old time charm and energy, but it was just okay. It fun to go around the marketplace but after awhile it all seems the same and it's disappointing to see the same Chinese items being sold everywhere. I think it would be much better to visit during Ramadan when it is said to come alive.

If you're a visitor in Jeddah, albalad should be your number one choice to go for.. The spirit of the place is undescribable! You'll find everything you need.. Shops, cafés, restaurants.. This is basically market area where you not only find Arbaian local stuff, but all sorts of Indian groceries, food and restaurants.

Balad district is what is left of the old city of Jeddah. It is not exactly a big place but it is my favourite place in the city. This is what the city was like prior to globalization.
