Al Balad is home to the main traditional souks in Jeddah – Gabel St leads east off the one way system and the treasures of the Gold Souk can be found off to the left. One of the oldest streets, traditional coffee shops and restaurants, shops are many and visiting is a must if you are visiting Jeddah

it nice old type of market and shopping area also you can get things cheaper then the rest of the city. but for me it not the worth the long trip and crowded road to reach there. but I'm sure any one who is coming fro western country will love the area.

Gabel Street is the last bastion of old Jeddah shopping. Don't look for the latest fashion and high-end offerings that have migrated north over the last couple of decades (I do believe that the high-end Gazzaz chain maintains a store in Al-Balad, however.
