We went to this market a few times, once at night. It stretches for quite a distance and provides repeating multitudes of vendors selling various tourist items. I don't know if many local people shop here. Near the cross street at the beginning of the market area, there were vendors selling food but not within the market itself.

Local & Hmong handicrafts, textiles, art and souvenirs - the Luang Prabang night market has something for everyone. Once you have finished shopping, make your way down the food alley for some of the cheapest food in town. Barbequed chicken breasts were a favourite of ours.

If you are looking for local/traditional food...forget the sit-down restaurants, THIS is the place to go! After browsing, shopping and bartering in the extensive tent market, look for the alley (towards the river) of food vendors--incredible variety & value!

Lots of stalls with lots of stuff; pretty much all the same though. We found the local shops in LP to be much more inviting with higher quality goods.

lots of variety, lots of friendly sellers, no pressure like in some other places, it's a must do in Luang Prabang.

This night market feels so clean compared to the markets in Thailand. The sellers aren't pushy. My only complaint is that I constantly had to duck under the metal bars of the awnings. This night market is not much different from the other night markets in Asia. Laotian handicrafts are sold there. Nothing to rave about. This is a lovely town with so many excellent shops and galleries that I wonder why bother with another tourist market. Well I suppose it's something to do of an evening. But really this place is so nice it doesnt really need this.
